Alwoodley is regarded as one of Britain’s finest inland courses. It was designed by the great Dr Alister MacKenzie. This famed architect left a legacy of classic courses around the world – among them Augusta National, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne. However, Alwoodley was the first course he designed and is therefore known as the Original MacKenzie.
Established in 1907, MacKenzie's heathland layout remains true to the great man's design, though now lengthened to over 6,900 yards.
Set on Wigton Moor high above Leeds, Alwoodley's springy fairways sweep through heather and gorse towards the large, undulating greens.
Come and experience the Original MacKenzie for yourself. Visitors are most welcome at Alwoodley. The weekday green fee is £95.
